"The foundation of every state is the education of its youth"

A quote from Diogenes, biographer of the Greek philosophers, leads us into the new school year.  With classes beginning in just a few days, this is a hectic - yet exciting - time for everyone connected to Columbus Academy.  In addition to classes starting on Thursday, there is a plethora of other activities this week, including several orientations, a Lower School ice cream social, Band Day, Upper School book distribution and numerous sports contests.  We will do our best to make you aware of all the events that make this such a vibrant campus.  But we will also try to limit the content so that it does not become overwhelming.  And no matter how many events may be taking place any given week, we will always stay attentive to this school's foundation: the education of our youth.

Welcome new Columbus Academy faculty members!
The Columbus Academy community would like to officially welcome new faculty members Larissa Bateman (LS Drama), Cynthia Bush (Strings and Kindergarten General Music), Betsy Butler (PreK Music and Movement), Michelle Faciana (First Grade Assistant Teacher and CASE Assistant), Heather Gepper (MS Health and Physical Education), Freda Graan (US Spanish), Brad Henry (MS Social Studies), John Ubbing (MS Social Studies), Jing Yan (US Chinese) and Joan Young (MS Mathematics).  Click here to see photos of the new LS faculty, MS faculty and US faculty.  They join Sarah Brewer (Director of College Counseling) and Gary Williams (Interim Head of Upper School), who both started in July.
