Boys varsity golf team advances to state tournament on October 12-13
|
For the 20th time in 26 seasons, Columbus Academy is headed to the boys golf state
tournament this Friday and Saturday at OSU's Scarlet Course. The Vikes, who placed third last year, have
won six state championships, with the last one coming in 1999. The squad finished second in 2004, marking
the program's fifth runner-up nod. In a
pressure-packed district tournament last Tuesday, an even-par 72 by senior Alex
Simson led CA to a second-place finish (by two strokes) and the final
qualifying spot for the state tourney.
