Service project nets 307 pounds of candy!
|
A
total of 307 pounds of Halloween candy was brought in by Lower and Middle
Schoolers last week to send to our soldiers through Operation Buckeye. The kids also wrote personalized notes to the
soldiers which will be included in the boxes.
Upon receiving the shipments, American soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan will share the candy
with local children where they are stationed.
To see photos of MS students bagging the candy, see this week's Around Academy gallery.

Academy students to get a taste of Hindu culture on Wednesday
|
|
On November 14, Columbus Academy
will celebrate the traditional Hindu holiday of Diwali by serving an authentic
Indian meal for lunch in the Dining Hall.
Known as the "Festival of Light," Diwali is enjoyed by most Indians
regardless of faith. The meal will
include lentil soup, tandoori chicken, rice pilav, samosa (fried pastry), naan
(round flatbread), rice pudding and badhushah (dessert treat). Other regular options - such as the sandwich,
soup, vegetable and pasta bars - will also be available. A mild version of the meal (with no spices) will
be available to all Lower Schoolers and to anyone else who requests it.

Columbus Academy taking precautions to prevent MRSA infections
|
|
Although no documented cases of MRSA (a type of
bacterial infection that is resistant to most antibiotics) have been reported
at Columbus Academy this school year, the school is
taking precautions to avoid an outbreak similar to what is happening at other
schools throughout the country over the last several weeks. Please click here for more details on CA's precautionary measures. If you have any questions or concerns, please
contact school nurse Beckie Hoagland at beckie_hoagland@columbusacademy.org.

the Columbus Symphony Youth Orchestra at 7 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 14) at the
Capitol Theatre's Vern Riffe Center, Andy Brush '06 won a six-way race for a
city council seat in Delaware, Anthony Pellecchia '97 is noted for his stage lighting
in an upcoming OSU theater department production, and many of CA's fall sports
teams have their seasons reviewed. Click here to read this
week's clips.

School day ends at noon on Wednesday, November 21
|
| On Wednesday, November 21 - the day before
Thanksgiving - school will let out at noon.

Adjusted US schedule on November 28 for Celebration of Leadership
|
Upper School classes on Wednesday,
November 28, will not begin until 10:05 a.m. due to the Celebration of Leadership assembly from 4-5 p.m. that

the basis for his autobiography and the hit film, "The Pursuit of Happyness." Mr. Gardner's address to the Upper School
will be videotaped and made available on the school's Web site. For more information on the Celebration of Leadership, which is
offered as a thank you and stimulus to CA's Annual Fund leadership donors
(gifts of $2,500 or more), please contact Erin Saurborn, Director of Annual
Giving, at 614-509-2256 or erin_saurborn@columbusacademy.org.
