Gardner provides thought-provoking message
Chris GardnerAs the 2007 Celebration of Leadership guest speaker, Christopher Gardner delivered two stimulating and thought-provoking messages to Columbus Academy audiences last Wednesday.  His afternoon address to the Upper School students and faculty focused on the power of pursuing goals and believing in your dreams.  In the evening, Gardner - whose best-selling autobiography became the hit film "The Pursuit of Happyness" - gave a 55-minute speech to the school's Annual Fund leadership donors at Abigail and Leslie Wexner's Party Barn.  To see photos of Gardner's visit, please click here.  For more information on CA's Annual Fund, please contact Director of Annual Giving Erin Saurborn at 614-509-2256 or erin_saurborn@columbusacademy.org.

Wrestling season begins with a home meet on Wednesday
Wrestling ActionThe varsity and JV wrestling seasons begin with a 5:30 p.m. home meet on Wednesday.  Then, while the Upper School grapplers are at the Nelsonville-York Duals on Saturday, the Middle School squad will open its season at the Summit MS Tournament.  To read previews of the Vikes' varsity wrestling season and to see who was named All-Ohio in field hockey and football, check out this week's press clips.
Academy grad Bob Turton '01 teams up with actor Will Ferrell on video
Bob TurtonColumbus Academy graduate Bob Turton '01 recently produced and starred in a comedic video called "High-Five Montage" that caught the attention of actor and comedian Will Ferrell.  Turton and his crew, who befriended each other at Northwestern University, then flew to Los Angeles to produce "High-Five Hollywood" which features Ferrell, Mary Steenburgen, Ryan Seacrest, Milo Ventimiglia, Tim Meadows, Blake Lewis, Barats and Baretta, and more.  Check out the new video at Ferrell's "Funny or Die" site by clicking here.  If you like it, vote "funny" and pass it on to your friends and family.  To see the original "High-Five Montage," click here.
Academy to hold Interior Threat Lockdown Drill on December 11
In an ongoing effort to make our campus as safe as possible, Columbus Academy will hold an Interior Threat Lockdown Drill at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 11.  This drill will help prepare our faculty, staff and students in the event that a disruptive force is inside one of the school buildings or there is a situation within one of the school buildings that would involve more than normal discipline to resolve the situation.  In addition to familiarizing everyone with the proper procedures during such an incident, the drill will also serve as another test of the recently installed campus-wide emergency communication system.  A similar lockdown drill for an exterior threat was successfully staged last spring.  Current state law requires at least one lockdown drill per school year.
Columbus Area Diversity Meeting to be held at CA on December 14
