Kudos to pair of Middle Schoolers who excel in spelling and poetry
|
At the regional
spelling bee on Saturday, sixth-grader Rahul
Ramaswamy (pictured, left) represented Columbus
Academy as one of 33
students (out of 80 local champions) selected for the oral bee after passing
the written portion with flying colors. He
made it all the way to the eighth round
with only five spellers remaining, giving him encouragement that he can win it
all next year. Also, a poem titled "Peanut Butter and Jelly" by CA
fifth-grader Sydnie Boykins (pictured, right) was
published in the 2007 Anthology of
Poetry by Young Americans. The poem
reads: "Peanut butter and jelly is yummy, Good to eat for your tummy. The jelly is made wiggly, And if you eat too
much, Your stomach gets jiggly. Peanut
butter is smooth or crunchy, It sure is munchy.
So don't delay, try some today."
