Antiques Show week is upon us!
2008 Antiques Show LogoThe 28th annual Antiques Show kicks off with the Gala Preview Party this Friday at 7 p.m.  In addition to cocktails, wine tasting and great food from some of Columbus' finest chefs, the event will feature the big band sounds of the Park Avenue Jazz Ensemble, a raffle of $5,000 or Academy tuition for one year and a Live Auction of sports, party and travel packages.  Tickets for Friday's preview party are $125 per person.  Saturday's schedule begins with an appraisal fair from 9:00-10:30 a.m. followed by the general show from 10:30 am. until 5:00 p.m.  At least 34 exhibitors from 14 different states will be on hand showing their antique wares.  From 1-2 p.m., a lecture on container gardening will be hosted by NBC4's Tom McNutt and Urban Gardner's Christie Nohle.  Sunday's hours are noon to 5:00 p.m. and include hands-on garden demonstrations for adults and children from 1-2 p.m.  General admission tickets are $10 for both weekend days.  For a complete rundown of events and more information on the Lecture Series speakers, please click here.

Plant/decoration sale and Masterworks raffle info
Masterworks logoFor the first time, this year's end-of-show plant and decoration sale will be held on Sunday instead of Monday.  Those wishing to purchase over 80 different potted arrangements and garden accessories for their home and patio should stop by the Garden Shop in the weight room from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday.  Also, the packet of Masterworks raffle tickets distributed to all Lower Schoolers and fifth-graders should be turned in to Michelle Saling in the LS Office this week.  Please click here for a letter explaining the reason for the raffle of the Masterworks from Cynthia Ziegler (LS Head Mother), Jeff Jeffers (LS Head Father) and LS Head Dan Vorenberg.  Each packet has 13 tickets.  Parents may purchase all or a portion of the tickets, if desired.  They are priced at $10 a piece, six for $50 or 13 for $100.  If you have multiple children at Academy, any combination of these tickets across your children's grades earns you the discount.  Extra ticket packets may be obtained from the LS Office or at the Antiques Show Gala Preview Party on April 25, where the winners will be drawn.  And, YES - raffle tickets are available to all art-lovers at these two venues!  Questions?  Contact Marj Anzalone (marjanzalone@insight.rr.com) or Liz Burns (estewartburns@aol.com).
