Sarah Brewer offers college counseling to all Upper School students and their parents.
Overview
Sarah Brewer is CA's full-time Director of College Counseling. Ms. Brewer is assisted by Mr. Chris Jones, Associate Director of College Counseling. Together, they are responsible for managing a program that assists students and parents in preparing for college. It is important to understand that the college counselor's role is to counsel, not place, students. The goal of counseling is to help each student enroll in a college that best matches his/her achievements, potential, talents and personal interests.

A student's success in college is impacted significantly by a sense of contentment with life on campus, the level to which she/he is being challenged intellectually, and the degree to which the student's other needs are being met. Unfortunately, students sometimes feel compelled to apply to or attend a college simply because of the name. There is a misperception, enhanced in part by the wide-spread misuse of rankings, that one must attend an Ivy League or other "name brand" college in order to have the education and preparation requisite for success as an adult. This simply is not true for the vast majority of students. The best education is the one that best serves one's individual needs, goals, and interests. With myriad fine programs and opportunities available in colleges across the country today, each student needs to do careful research and make thoughtful decisions.
